Ortho-Now Bone Health Clinic

A bone density test — also called a DEXA scan — determines whether you have osteoporosis also called “brittle” or “weak” bones. Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones to become fragile and more likely to break, and is getting very prevalent as we live longer.  It most often affects those over 60 years of age.  In the past, osteoporosis could only be detected after you broke a bone. By that time, however, it could be difficult to prevent future fractures. A bone density test makes it possible to know your risk of breaking bones before that happens.

A bone density test uses X-rays to measure how much calcium and other bone minerals are packed into your bones.  At Bone and Joint Specialists of Winchester, we have one of the most powerful and accurate DEXA machines in the area, and can provide testing, interpretation, and treatment of osteoporosis – all in our office!

Dr. John W. Ghramm – a specialist in gynecology and women’s health,  and Kelli Eglinger, PAC, provide treatment and counseling for osteoporosis patients via our Bone Health Clinic.  If you are concerned about your bone health and osteoporosis, then ask for an appointment at your next visit or call our front desk at 540-667-9252.
