Dr. Swope has been in the practice of orthopedic surgery for more than 40 years.  He is the only Orthopedic Surgeon in the Winchester area to have a practice dedicated entirely to Hand Surgery.  After practicing for many years in Welch, West Virginia he moved to Winchester in 1983.  A graduate of Davidson College, he received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967.  From 1967 through 1972 he completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta.  He completed a hand fellowship 1976, and his practice an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.  He has been affiliated with both the Winchester Surgical Clinic and Winchester Orthopedic Associates before joining Bone & Joint Specialists in March of 2006.
